FSG staff get to grip with arctic Britain in ‘emergency’ 4x4 vehicle fleet

Fleet Support Group enhanced its reputation for customer service excellence by ensuring that all 180 staff were able to defy Arctic Britain and report for work every day as usual.

The Chippenham-based company, Britain’s largest independent fleet management company with more than 50,000 vehicles on its books, hastily assembled a fleet of 4x4s that operated as a staff shuttle service.

The business rented two 4x4s and commandeered two other 4x4s used as company cars by employees and the ‘emergency’ fleet ensured staff living up to10 miles away could safely travel to and from work.

FSG Chairman Geoffrey Bray said: “The dreadful road conditions made it treacherous for all but the toughest 4x4s. We pride ourselves on delivering a first-class customer experience and we didn’t want to let our clients down, particularly as the help and advice they require typically increases when weather conditions are appalling.”

Mr Bray, who turned ‘chauffeur’ for several days as he took his turn at the wheel of one of the 4x4s, added: “I applaud the tenacity of our staff who either made it to and from work safely through their own means or requested a lift to and from work courtesy of our 4x4 shuttle service.

“With the Arctic-like weather set to remain for a few more days I anticipate continuing to run the shuttle service for a little longer.”
